Nowadays, the demanding for the specialized security providers in the maritime sector is growing. Candidates for this job, armed or unarmed training, usually haven’t got a specialization in a real scenario at sea. This is why Palm Charters Group have created the MSOs training course to facilitate all the last certifications easy obtained from our Palm Charters VBA and Training Centers at land.

 

Palm Charters Group MSO Course, is developed to meet the needs of the ISO 28007 and is been the only course that has direct mapping against this Maritime Security Standards, following the recommendations and training specifically required from IMO (international Maritime Organization (IMO 1443)). The course is based in the STCW-10 (Standards for Training, Certification and Watch-keeping) and SOLAS convention (Safety Of Life At Sea).

The focus of our training is not exclusive just to a shipboard contracting opportunities, the MSO course will increase the skills of our students in different subjects, perfectly compatibles to any another security field. Containing Tactical Casual Care, First Aids or Tactical Firefighting are essential competence for any job in the Security Sector.

The PMSCs and Palm Charters Group have teamed up to do the most complete MSO course in the Training Market. This course has a format never seen to try to adjust to the needs of Operators who want to recycle their skills or increase their knowledge on the field.

The attraction of this course is that all of the training is carried out on a real platform and in training centers at land, with real operators on board and with real equipment. The Logistic Platforms are beyondthe edge of the high risk area, and the simulation with the reality of MSO’s work is guaranteed.

This is an integral course 7/24, 7 days of training, 24 hours activated. The platforms are located at Red Sea and Gulf of Oman in International Waters, so from the first day of training we’ll be on duty until the last day. All the training will be in real conditions. The target of this kind of course is to provide the most complete knowledge and skills to the Security Operators.

Initial Testing Knowledge


• OPERATIONAL SAFETY



Introduction and knowledge about exact location of the work area, between Asia and Africa. As well as description of the characteristics of the Red Sea and Aden Gulf. Description of the area of intervention of our Vessels, as well as HRA (High Risk Areas) were the ships operate. In addition, an approximation of geopolitics characteristics of this zone, trying to give to the students an exact awareness about the motivation of the hostiles that could attack the Vessels in the Risk Area.

• INITIAL TESTING KNOWLEDGE



Operational safety management onboard ships. This topic is one of the more important topics to work in the course. We’ll refresh all the contents about Safety procedures, in a theoretical and practical point of view: fire fighting, personal safety and personal survival techniques. To know all the personal equipment for safety, and to use it in exercises and drills.

 

Initial Testing Knowledge


• AREA OF OPERATIONS



Students carry on a test about maritime general knowledge focused in safety and security. This exam will be the starting point of the course, giving to the instructors the level of the students, being able to adjust the depth in the transmission of the contents. A basic skill test will be carried out by the instructors. Firearms handling, physical capacities and first aid and rescue procedures.

 

Firearms training and Security Equipment


• FIREARMS TRAINING



Work in the contents of the MFCC (Maritime Firearms Competency Course). Training focused in safety handling of firearms and refresh of knowledge about techniques and tactics with firearms against piracy attacks.

 


• SECURITY EQUIPMENT



To know and to use all the security equipment of Maritime Security Operator.

 

Emergency and Attacks drills


• EMERGENCY & ATTACKS DRILLS



This content will be the last topic of our course. Here we make a compilation of all the knowledge, theoretical and practical, carried out in our course.

The instructors will propose situations and problems that students must be able to resolve. These situations will be developed in a realistic way and under pressure. Instructors will take notes about students’ behaviours and skills, being evaluated. This information will be communicated to the Company like Course Report, were the Instructors will give their points of view, based in evaluations, about the most capable and the most valid students for Security Maritime Competency.

 

Tactical casualty care. Basic life support and aquatic rescue


• TACTICAL CASUALTY CARE



Working, not only in BLS, but also in tactical casualty care intervention. Our Operators must be able to give an effective paramedical support in any situation, hostile or not, under fire or not.

Our contents are based in the standards of TCCC by NAEMT. In these hours the Instructors will carry out an approximation to the key points of this essential knowledge that all security personal, in any framework, should have.

  • Principles of communication by VHF radio. GMDSS notion.
  • Behavioural culture in the international crew. Vessels crew hierarchy.
  • Methods of embarkation on the vessel, features and hazards. Other hazards at the sea.
  • BMP5. Vessels hardening. Principles of the Protection vessel.
  • Organization of watches. Observation, methods of observation. Control of shadow sectors.
  • Maritime Security Pre-deployment Planning.
  • Maritime Security Operating Procedures.
  • Organization Counter piracy drills on board the Vessel.
  • Fire contacts and RUF.
  • Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Theoretical exam.

MARITIME FIREARMS COMBAT COURSE
3 DAYS

  • Refresh about Maritime Security Procedures.
  • Safety measures of weapons handling.
  • Familiarization of the weapon platforms.
  • The advantages and disadvantages of weapons systems and constructions.
  • Marksmanship principles, basics of ballistics.
  • The selection and strengthening of the firing position.
  • Proper hold and movement with weapons.
  • Dry weapon training.
  • Basics of assault and defensive tactics.
  • Practical shooting.
  • RUF update.
  • Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Theoretical exam.
  • Practical shooting exam with elements of physical activity.

TACTICAL MARITIME CASUAL CARE & RESCUE
2 DAYS

  • First Aid Kits content.
  • Types of bleeding, threatening, first aid.
  • Types of injuries and first aid.
  • Anesthetize, types, application.
  • Evacuation of the wounded to the shelter.
  • Basic life support.
  • First aid on the battlefield.
  • Evacuation of the wounded to the shelter.
  • Methods, reasons for evacuation from the vessel.
  • Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Theoretical exam.
  • Practical exam event simulation.
